The up and coming Australian band, 5 Seconds of Summer is sweeping the hearts and ears of many teenage girls in multiple countries.
The four boys, Michael Clifford, Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood and Ashton Irwin jump started their careers when they first appeared as the opening act for the popular boyband, One Direction. They performed on the tour, “Take Me Home” from Feb. 23 2013 until Oct. 30 2013.
With a few songs out, the band was able to perform and catch new fans with their mix of pop and punk rock music.
The two last EPs, “Unplugged” and “Somewhere New” released in 2012, gained more popularity when the band toured with One Direction. This time, fans anticipated the new EP, “She Looks So Perfect” to be a great and shadow what the past EPs have been.
“I think ‘She Looks So Perfect’ is a really good EP that shows what kind of band and how different 5 Seconds of Summer is compared to other artists. The main song off of the EP ‘She Looks So Perfect’ is probably one of my favorites while the music video made me realize that the band members are normal and haven’t let fame get to their heads. I’m also very excited to see them in concert in April,” said junior Sina Gomez.
Senior Marisa Ramos said, “I really liked the EP since 5 Seconds of Summer introduced a new style while also staying true to their original sound. My favorite song would probably be ‘Heartache On The Big Screen.’”
Their entire collection of music ranging from somewhere between 20 to 30 songs is only getting bigger and better to create a more mature and experienced sound. However, the newest EP only includes three original songs and a cover of ‘What I Like About You’ by The Romantics.
Junior Victoria Poslavsky said, “I think the EP was a really good start but it was way too short for me. I was expecting a lot more music since the band kept talking about how great ‘She Looks So Perfect’ was going to be. Even though I love their music, it’s like they just released a few singles rather than an actual EP.”
Although “She Looks So Perfect” was very short, it didn’t stop many from enjoying the few songs they got out of the EP, consequently falling more in love with the four heartthrob members of 5 Seconds of Summer.
