Senior Amelia Tupou led the way as the Lady Scots prepare for the upcoming CCS tournament.
The team has been able to excel due to the work Tupou has put in. As the setter, Tupou sets up her teammates with passes that make it as easy as possible for the teammates to get a kill. Without a strong setter, much can go awry.
Senior Charlotte Jackman said, “Amelia is such a strong player. Our team counts on her.”
Three year varsity player, Tupou originally began playing volleyball in middle school as a hobby which has now transformed into a passion.
At the age of 14 Tupou knew that volleyball would be important in her life. She said, “I just knew that volleyball was what I loved to do and I wanted to continue to play for as long as I could.”
Tupou has gained much of her talent through experience, starting in middle school and playing both club and school.
After participating in National tournaments and seeing a wide range of talent spread across the country, Tupou said, “Seeing so many people in love with the sport made me want to play even harder and get even better.”
Tupou credited much of her improvement to her coach Chris Crader who she has had for three years in high school. Good coaching and practice has been key in her success and leadership.
As the team looks to face some of the hardest competition they have faced all year, many eyes will be on Tupou as she leads the Lady Scots.
