An ASB Spirit Commissioner adds events to the ASB calendar for next year.

As the school year comes to an end, ASB continues to raise school spirit and begins to plan for next year’sĀ events.

According to Freshman President Joe Sison, ASB is currently working on the celebration assembly that will take place on May 25, Senior Graduation, and the Baccalaureate.

In addition, a new activity called ScotsLand is being planned.

Sophomore Nicole Turk, who is part of the reach-out commission, said, ā€œItā€™s going to be a music festival with Carlmont students performing.ā€

One of the reasons ASB succeeds is that we help one another. Big things like the Senior Graduation, Baccalaureate, and the end-of-the-year assembly are put on by their respective commissions, but receive lots of help from everyone in ASB.

Because each ASB commission has different requirements to meet throughout the year, the amount of work towards the end of the year varies.

ā€œEvery commission and group is different, some may have more to do than others with the school year coming to a close. However, one of the reasons ASB succeeds is that we help one another,ā€ said Sison.

Over the summer, ASB has planned beach days and get-togethers to create strong bonds and to introduce new ASB members to the family.

Freshman Dagny Klieman, who will be a new member of the spirit commission next year, said, ā€œWeā€™re doing a lot of bonding activities like dinners and beach days, so weā€™ll be able to get to know each other before we start working together.ā€

According to Sison, ASB will also meet a few weeks prior to the start of schoolĀ to prepare for Freshman Orientation Day — anĀ event thatĀ takes place the day before school starts.

To help plan events and keep organized, ASB has a calendar that each commission can use.

ā€œWe have a master calendar that all commissions can add to. It really helps the class stay organized and make sure there arenā€™t too many overlaps with the schedule,ā€ said Sison.

Throughout the years, ASB hopes to achieve goals and create a better school environment in general. Learning from past experiences and mistakes, ASB carefully prepares events with much thought.

Sison said, ā€œASB is always trying to improve. Everyone in ASB has their own goals, whether that be put on the best dance ever, win Powder Puff, or make Carlmontā€™s Got Talent the most exciting it has ever been. Whatever it may be, ASB is always improving because of the drive by its members.ā€
