Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” has been making history since its release this summer, and the female rapper’s career seems to be far from over.

Cardi started as an exotic dancer and started to gain a following on Instagram because of her “no-filter attitude,” causing her to become an internet sensation.

This allowed the former stripper to become a regular cast member on of the VH1 television network reality series “Love & Hip Hop: New York” in 2015, but her music has been largely ignored until now.

Her hit song, “Bodak Yellow,” managed to reach the No. 1 spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart this summer, causing her to become one of the most well-known artists in the music industry right now.

With its overall upbeat track and her lyrics, “Bodak Yellow” should not be slept on. She sounds sure of herself and confident in what she says, leaving listeners to feel powerful along with her.

She is often compared to another successful female rapper, Nicki Minaj, and they are assumed by many to be very similar in style, look, and attitude. However, Cardi and Minaj have proved their differences with their distinct sounds and unique personalities.

It is not only the catchy beat and sassy lyrics that caused Cardi to become as popular as she is. Her overall style is what’s catching everyone’s attention.

She spits out her lyrics vigorously with strength in her thick voice, emphasizing every verse make a point and ensuring that every word stands out no matter what she says. She sneakily moves with the beat, going on and off of it, leaving listeners interested in what she is going to say next.

Cardi separates her lines into short sections with the beat, unlike any other artist in the hip-hop industry so far.

However, her Dominican background also adds a unique Latin accent mixed with her New York slang and Bronx accent in her songs, leaving her voice to have a unique sound and that is recognized in any song collaboration she is involved in.

In her most recent collaborations, G-Eazy’s “No Limit” and Migos’s “Motorboat,” she proves her worth as she makes both of these songs to have added flavor and sassiness as well.

Cardi B is showing the world what she can do. So far, her impact on the hip-hop industry seems to be going nowhere but up.
