The controversial policy proposed by the Texas Senate bill SB147 to ban all Chinese citizens from buying homes in the state has changed to only apply to foreign governments. The legislation was supposed to shield the state against intervention from authoritarian regimes like China, Iran, and North Korea by preventing property ownership for citizens from said powers. Despite denial from its author Senator Lois Kolkhorst, its original provisions were blatantly racist. (Andrew Shu)
