Cartoon: Students take the admissions bait

Though top schools are synonymous with low acceptance rates, they receive high numbers of applications. Stanford received 55,471 applications for admission to the Class of 2025 by admitting 2,190 students, only 3.9 percent of its applicants. Meanwhile, amidst the consequences of the pandemic, enrollment has dropped for less-known colleges statewide. A greater emphasis on prestige has heavily contorted the application process, causing students to misplace their priorities. (Phie Wei)
