Cartoon: Tussle for Twitter

The world’s richest person, Elon Musk, has set a keen eye on Twitter. In recent weeks, the owner of SpaceX and Tesla has made several pushes to claim ownership of the massive social media platform. On April 4, 2022, Musk ambitiously rose to become Twitter’s largest shareholder, holding 9.2% of the company’s total shares. To prevent Elon from furthering his goals, Twitter and its top shareholders began taking preventative action against Musk. Along with Twitter implementing a ‘poison pill’ to prevent Elon from consolidating shares, the Vanguard Group became Twitter’s largest shareholder at 10.3% ownership, thwarting Musk for the time being.
