The Carlmont frosh-soph volleyball team succeeded in becoming Peninsula Athletic League champions. They ended their season with a 13-1 league record, losing to Aragon but most recently beat Menlo-Atherton again to end the season.
Carlmont had a little bit of trouble with M-A this second time around. Carlmont let up a lot of free points in the beginning of the games, but came back and fought hard, winning game one 25-16 and game three 15-4. They lost the second game with a 20-25 score. They had a lot of rallies and lots of points scored, so it wasn’t as easy as the last games this time around.
There seemed to have been a bigger turn-out in the crowd compared to all of the other games, with family members, friends, and fans screaming and cheering for both teams. A lot of energy and support from the crowd pumped the players up, especially when they needed it and ended up working out for the best.
Coach Taylor Chung said, “I’m disappointed about the one loss of the season because we had it. It was 14-3 game three and we just lost it. We were one hit away from being undefeated throughout the entire season.”
Sophomore setter Lauren Tierney commented about the the team and being PAL champs, “I’m very proud of our team and how far we’ve come this season.”
