Yesterday, the Carlmont Girls Varsity Water Polo won their match against Terra Nova with a score of 19-4.
It was the girls 5th game in their so far successful season. The girls received new head coach Cole Bielskis this year and so far he has completely changed the Girl’s record since last year.
In recent years the girls water polo team has mostly had a losing record. This year they have started strong, with a 4-1 record.
The game started out slow, with the girls seeming off their game. They never lost the lead but at one point the score was a close 3-2.
However, once the Lady Scots got their groove back, the score started to run up. With Kristen Denny using a combination of fakes, lobs, and drive moves, the Terra Nova girls didn’t have a chance.
The Terra Nova team had little starters, unlike the Carlmont team. Carlmont would switch subs every couple of minutes while the Terra Nova girls stayed in the pool and their exhaustion showed. By halftime the Scots had a lead of 13-3.
After halftime, the Scots slowed things down and avoided shooting. Coach Bielskis ordered them to work on ball side drives, setting up, and working their set backhands.
Continuing their dominating season, the Girls easily disposed of the Terra Nova team and is ready for their next match versus Mills.
