Carlmont’s junior varsity football team shut out the Mills High School Vikings 45-0. The Scots scored six touchdowns and two safeties.
“(It was a) great game… we really played hard this week. We played the way we practiced,” said JV head coach Rene George.
Carlmont had a very successful game from start to finish. Willie Teo got the Scots off to a fast start, and scored a 51-yard rushing touchdown on the second play of the game. The Vikings defense couldn’t stop Carlmont, and the Scots led with a total score of 23-0 at halftime. Their offense didn’t fare much better. They gave up three interceptions and could not progress past midfield.
“We came out playing hard, not stopping, and ended with a bang,” said sophomore Aaron Karpie. The Scots pulled out their first string players near the end of the fourth quarter. The reserve players were up to the challenge. They played tough defense and were able to score a safety in the last minutes of the game.
The Scots are now 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the Peninsula Athletic League. Their next game, against El Camino, is on Oct. 19, the day before varsity’s homecoming game. The game will be at Carlmont.
Currently on a two game win streak, the Scots are trying to make the most of their season. Coach George said, “we’re bouncing back, winning two games. We just have to ride out the rest of the season.”
