Carlmont junior varsity men’s soccer had a shining 3-0 victory against Los Altos High School.
“Los Altos had a good side. They gave us a quality match. I like to coach a high soccer IQ, and the reason I selected these boys here is because they have a high soccer IQ, so I kind of threw them a curveball today, and went to a really complex system of play. They handled it; they executed, and got a good result, 3-0,” said head coach Will Stambaugh.
The Scots had a few close shots on goal but did not score in the first half. Captain Brandon Magpayo had two shots that hit the goalpost in the first half, but more than made up for it in the second, where he scored a goal in the first minute and ended up with a hat trick.
“I got some good passes, tried hard, hit the post two times, but I was able to finish three of them to get us the win,” said Magpayo.
The Scots are now 3-0 so far in the pre-season with their most recent victory. Their next game will be against Saint Francis on Dec. 4 at Carlmont.
Magpayo was optimistic about the season’s outlook: “With 3 wins, still no goals against, we’re doing good this season.”
