Mack’s Barbeque is located at the end of Laurel Street in San Carlos. A carnivore’s paradise, the restaurant offers different types of old fashioned American food.
The menu is based upon three main dishes: ribs and brisket or pulled pork sandwiches. These dishes can be accompanied by an assortment of sides ranging from Mac and Cheese to baked beans. They also have a limited assortment of specialty drinks and free water.
The restaurant is adorned with various signs and wall decorations that could rival an American culture museum. Along with scattered patriotic elements and a decent amount of seating (main hall and back porch seating), Mack’s is both an enjoyable and comfortable place to indulge.
Although my order of a pulled pork sandwich was immediately served to me, others who ordered the brisket had to wait much longer. As delicious and satisfying as the sandwich was, it felt a little on the expensive side; they only accept cash as well making it a bit of an inconvenience for some.
The food quality, however, was beyond delightful with excellently cured meat complimented well by the homemade barbeque sauce. The portions were enough to satisfy, but not enough to completely fill customers up.
Overall, Mack’s is any American Carnivore’s dream. Decent prices, fantastic food, and an enjoyable ambiance make it a must for any meat fan.
