Junior Reggie Chatman was elected for next year’s Associated Student Body president on Feb 26., 2013.
His competition for ASB president was Claire Porter, who is the current junior class vice president.
Chatman commented, “I think it was very close and that it was a hard fought battle. I’m just glad that I came out on top.”
Chatman has been involved in student government since he was in third grade. He was student body president in middle school and elementary school and he has also been class president since freshmen year.
“He’s really approachable and always listens to what you have to say,” said sophomore vice president Amanda Breslauer.
Chatman did a lot for his campaign to secure his win. He created a social media storm with a Facebook event, an Instagram account to promote his campaign, and a promotion rally in the quad that gave students a chance to win sunglasses.
Chatman added, “My plan as ASB president is to create a lot of school spirit. I feel that school spirit is not a huge issue, but it’s an issue that I would like to improve upon so people would be able to have more spirit at the school, like not feel awkward about dressing up on spirit days. I also want to do more events in the quad that involve more people. I want to make sure everybody is involved so our campus is amazing.”
