This Wednesday, the Scots defeated the Menlo-Atherton Bears with a spectacular outing from starting pitcher, Sean Collins.
The Scots came out the door hot, scoring two runsin the third inning. The first of the two came when freshman Aaron Pleschner layed down a suicide squeeze while junior Conner Sick rushed to home plate.
“I knew I had to get the job done because at the time it was tied and our team needed a lift,” said Pleschner.
This game marked Collins’ third shutout on the season, which couldn’t have come on a better day then Senior Day. Senior Ryan Anthony also came up with a clutch RBI to send the Scots ahead three to zero in the fifth inning. Collins closed the door from that point on to complete his shutout.
Coming in to the game, the Scots knew that they had to win to secure a spot in the Central Coast Section Playoffs. They took this challenge to heart and the seniors stepped up on their day to shine in front of a good crowd on a beautiful spring day.
Senior Nic Bongi said, “I knew we either had to win, or my high school career would have been slowly and sorrowfully coming to an end.”
The Scots now move on to the CCS Playoffs, which could mean a rematch against highly ranked Saint Francis.
Either way, the Scots will be working hard to, yet again “upset” the high seed in the early rounds.
