Spring sports: adored or ignored?

[media-credit name=”Grace Chang” align=”alignnone” width=”300″][/media-credit]During fall and winter, football and basketball are usually considered the most popular sport, but spring does not have such a dominate sport as fall and winter do.

Carlmont’s spring sports are very diverse and as a result, many students have trouble choosing their favorite.

Taylor Choye exclaimed, “I like all the sports in the spring but there are so many it is too hard to choose a favorite! But if I have to choose I would say baseball. It is interesting to watch and it is just like the Giants, but with people that go to our school.”

Spring sports at Carlmont include lacrosse, badminton, baseball, boys tennis, softball, golf, swimming, and cross country. From the swinging of a golf club to a tennis racket, the sports appear very different and very hard to compare.

Many students watch sports for similar reasons as junior Abbey Holman. “My favorite sport to watch is swimming because a lot of my friends are on the team,” explained Holman.

Nicole Galisatus joked, “My favorite sport is band because I like listening to music, and it is even better because it happens year round!”

Whether students watch sports because of the excitement, their friends, or because they are similar to famous sports teams, it is certain that there is  no excessively popular spring sport, unlike football in the winter.
