With every spring comes the SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas. A mutlimedia event filled with conferences, shows, and trade shows, SXSW (South by Southwest) attracts all types of people looking for entertainment and developments in various fields.
The music is what pulls most to SXSW and the lineup for 2013 is impressive.
Acts such as Charli XCX, Icona Pop, Earl Sweatshirt, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Japandroids, Tegan and Sara, Just Blaze, and Action Bronson are set to light up SXSW’s stages during the festival.
Junior Jordan Kiss said of the lineup, “There’s so many different genres of music, rap, rock, whatever. I think this year will be exciting because of the number of up-and-coming acts in the lineup.”
With such a diverse lineup, SXSW will attract all walks of life, from the discerning indie crowd to the hip-hop heads looking for performances by Earl Sweatshirt and Action Bronson, two of the internet’s hottest rising stars in the rap world.
SXSW has historically been independent act-leaning, more so than other major music festivals.
This propensity for putting on new acts gives SXSW a unique feeling, a fresh vibe that many seek in the midst of the Coachellas and Lollapaloozas of this world.
Add to that atmosphere a layer of tech-savvy festival goers, and you get the distinct SXSW vibe that keeps people coming year after year.
