On Jan. 21, the Carlmont Scots’ boys varsity soccer team lost a heartbreaker versus rivals Menlo-Atherton.
Coming into the week, the Scots were 2-1-1, and playing well. Things continued on Wednesday with a convincing home victory against Aragon.
The Scots were poised for a key road victory against Menlo-Atherton, but fell just short. The two teams were neck-and-neck all the way until the end, with the score 2-2 in stoppage time.
As the referees were checking their watches, Menlo-Atherton sent a ball across the middle on a corner kick that was tipped in past the Scots keeper, propelling them to victory.
The Scots players were in shock, and couldn’t believe their late misfortune. The loss moved the Scots to 3-2-1, with games with Sequoia and Terra Nova next week.
Despite their loss on Friday, the Scots have been playing well and are in position to challenge for a league title. Come out and support your Scots on Wednesday at home versus our biggest rivals, the Sequoia Cherokees.
