Carlmont’s varsity volleyball team won their first league game against Terra Nova on Sept. 18. With this being the first game of the season, varsity volleyball was determined to come out and win.
The Lady Scots started and ended strong, wining all three games scoring 25-11, 25-17, 25-19. The game became pretty intense 13 points into the third match. When both teams tied 13-13, Carlmont battled through ending up with a six point win.
Starting off the new season with a good start, sophomore outside hitter Alyssa Espiritu noted that “even though we lost a lot of our pin hitters last year, we are still as strong and we have a great bond on and off the court.”
This year’s team consists of 15 players, including two freshmen who, according to Espiritu, “will help us improve and grow as a team.”
The Lady Scots are hoping that their hard work in practice will lead them to win more games in the future.
Varsity volleyball’s second game of the season is Thursday, Sept. 20 at Carlmont against Hillsdale High School.
“I think throughout the season, we will get a lot better and it just takes time to get the ball rolling,” added Espiritu.
