Recently, the franchise Yoppi Yogurt opened up a store where the previous Jamba Juice was in the Carlmont Shopping Center.
When Jamba Juice closed it’s doors earlier this year, there was speculation as to what would replace the popular store, and if it would prosper as well. Since Yoppi Yogurt opened up last week, some students have already enjoyed the frozen treats it offers.
“We don’t rip you off,” said Natalia San Juan, an employee at Yoppi Yogurt, also a Carlmont senior. “You pay for what you get.”
These tasty treats have some health benefits. Frozen yogurt is lower in fat than ice cream and are even made in sugar-free varieties. Yoppi Yogurt offers a variety of different flavors of yogurts to please every one’s taste buds. The ability to add custom toppings makes the delicious dessert all your own.
“It’s tasty and good for everyone, even kids. They like it too,” said San Juan, “It’s good for your health.”
Frozen yogurt has become increasing popular with the masses, many stores have opened up in the last few years, such as Tutti Frutti on Laurel Street and the resident Ya Ua Yogurt & Pastries on Alameda de las Pulgas.
“It gets really busy on Wednesday, with all the Ralston [students] that come after they’re let out early. Also Carlmont students come before late start,” San Juan added.
It offers competition to the already established Ya Ua Yogurt that resides across the street. Whether or not student will prefer one to another will only be determined by time, but there may be expected some stiff competition.
