As the sun began to set, freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors alike gathered in the quad for a night of food, games, and school spirit.

During homecoming week, the Administrative Student Body (ASB) puts on In It To Win It night with the objective of uniting the student body and promoting excitement for the homecoming game to follow.

This year, the event was nothing short of success, as over 100 kids came to participate, the biggest turnout in the history of In It to Win It.

Ethan Torban, Cooper Perez, and Sasha Belov, and Edrina Hamzeh of the ASB Assembly commission led this event. In addition, most members of ASB showed up to ensure everything ran smoothly.

Paige Wellman, a sophomore in ASB, said, “My goal was to see everyone enjoying themselves and having fun. By the end of tonight, I feel like that was accomplished.”

The first game of the night was capture the flag.

Students spread throughout the quad and into B hall as they worked together to tag the opposing side. Spirits were high as kids darted behind trash cans, up stairs, and through hallways.

Next was hide and seek, but not your average game.

The darkness added a twist, as hiding became easier in the moonlight. The searchers were also faced with increasing difficulty when kids chose to sprint in the event of being found.

Each grade level took turns being the searcher.

Once the game of hide and seek came to an end, ASB set out a complimentary food table with pizza, drinks, and various homemade desserts.

Students then headed back to the ASB room as they prepared for the next set of hide and seek. By then, it was completely dark.

The sophomores kick off the night with an exuberant, “Let’s go sophomores!”

As the night began to come to a close, it was time for the final event: dodgeball.

The freshman faced off against the sophomores while the juniors and seniors did the same. After a round full of cheering and excitement, the sophomores and seniors advanced towards the final round.

After a lengthy game, the sophomores emerged victorious in dodgeball.

“It felt amazing; we lost to the seniors last year so it felt good to witness our class get together and beat them. Aside from that, I am proud of the class spirit we showcased within that game. Beating the seniors was just the cherry on top,” said Jono Sison, sophomore class president.

At the end of the night, the seniors took home the overall win, to the dismay of the sophmores. In It to Win It proved to be a night that no one would forget.

Ariana Golden, a participant, said, “By the end of that night I think we all grew closer as a community.”
