Bacon, it’s what’s for dinner

A meat lover’s dream comes true at Bacon Bacon.

If you are a vegetarian, stop reading this now.

Every Monday at 5 p.m. food trucks come and park in the Belmont Cal Train parking lot. There is a weekly rotation between them so there is even more diversity between the many choices offered there: Vietnamese food, barbecue, sushi, and Korean food (to name a few).  And if you are lucky, you may spot a black truck named “Bacon Bacon“.

Everything has bacon incorporated into it, from their burgers to their cookies. While it does have a wide variety of items on the menu, if you aren’t a fan of bacon, then it really is not for you. The the food is delicious — they have chicken sandwiches and even a burrito, though it is a little pricey at around $9 each.

Vegetarians beware, the meat is everywhere.

Sophomore Andrew Joo, who also came to enjoy some Bacon Bacon said, “The fries and the burrito are amazing.”

After tasting everything on the menu, it was clear that the burrito was the star of the show. The pork was tender and flavorful. Everything was good, but the burrito was just on a different level entirely. The burrito was filled with pulled pork, pork belly, bacon, french fries, and barbecue sauce, and it worked wonderfully. Imagine eating a pulled pork sandwich and a huge slab of pork ribs slathered in barbecue sauce with a side of french fries. It is the most American burrito you will find.

The burgers were sub-par compared to the other options on the menu. Personally I would get a burger elsewhere.

The fried chicken sandwich, while not as exciting as the burrito, still packs a lot of flavor and deliciousness with its amazing mayo (coming from a guy who is normally against mayo), its crispy fried chicken patty, and the crispy bacon on top.

Even the desserts have bacon in them! They serve candied bacon (bacon cooked with brown sugar), bacon chocolate chip cookies, and even chocolate covered bacon. Personally, I’d recommend going for the cookie. The bacon isn’t too strong and the savoriness from the bacon actually works well with the cookie, so it ends up not being too sweet.

There is no bacon in the drinks, in case you were wondering. But I’m sure some of you hard-core carnivores wouldn’t mind experimenting.

In all seriousness, Bacon Bacon is a fun and delicious food truck. You should stop by and try it. While the burgers may be a bit of a let down, everything else is full of flavor and well…bacon. Even though it is a little pricey, it is worth going and trying it out. It may not be for PETA activists, but for all non-vegetarians, it is a meat lover’s dream.
