On Tuesday night at Carlmont High School, fans witnessed a performance that left Westmoor High School scoreless, as Carlmont finished with a total of eight goals. Carlmont is now tied for first in the division along with Menlo-Atherton High School.
“We played great. The other team wasn’t very good but we had great passing,” said Michel Gonzalez.
Gonzalez produced the first two goals of the team’s eight. His first goal was in the 6th  and was assisted by Luke Petersen. Ross Goffigon assisted on the second of Gonzalez’s goals.
“I took it in and scored. I shot one of them with my right foot and the other with my left,” said Gonzalez.
John Russell, Nick Monteiro, and starting defender Ryan Freeman got moved to forward and scored a goal. Justin Harpster also tacked on two more goals including an unassisted goal in the 73rd minute.
“I think we played fairly well. We distributed the ball well,” said Keea Khalili. “We have got to get ready for Burlingame.”
Many of the Scots players remember last time the Burlingame Panthers visited Carlmont. Two scuffles started, including one that had coaches from both sides and even Carlmont administrators separating the angered players and caused an early ending to the game.
“We have to beat Burlingame… It’s our big game,” says Khalili.” It got out of hand last year and hopefully we can have a nice, clean game this time.”
Carlmont plays Burlingame later this week, hoping to have a similar performance as they did against Westmoor and take outright first place over M-A in the division.
“I think that we are going to take CCS this year. We are a lot stronger than last year,” said Luke Peterson.
The newly created rivalry will resume Thursday, Jan. 17 at 4:00 at Burlingame High School.
