Cartoon: Abort the court

In the eyes of the Alabama Supreme Court, embryos are the equivalent of a child. Per the recent ruling, the freezing of eggs would now be considered murder in Alabama. As a result, doctors have already shut down fertility clinics in fear of being brought up on criminal charges. The decision stopped all IVF procedures in their tracks, and could also extend to forms for birth control such as Plan B, IUDs, and hormonal pills. The Alabama ruling has been deemed medically unsound and unethical by health professionals and will have devastating impacts on all women. (Shiyo Ohashi)
