Dana Bloom and Jenna Chambers, both seniors, have become the new editors for The Highlander during the 2011 – 2012 school year.
Bloom and Chambers have been in journalism for three years, with Bloom previously being sports editor and Chambers previously being features editor.
“I’m looking forward to meeting all of the new journalism students and helping them advance their writing skills,” replied Chambers, “I think we’ll have a really good paper this year.”
On her free time, Chambers is an intern at The Daily Journal and works part-time at a daycare. She enjoys singing in Carlmont’s choir and spending time with her friends. She wants to go to college on the east coast and study political science or journalism.
“It was disappointing to resign from my sports editor position after two years, but I’m really excited to become co-editor-in-chief,” said Bloom, “I hope I can make an impact on the newspaper.”
Bloom has played on Carlmont’s softball team since a freshman as pitcher, catcher, and 3rd base. She is also the president of Key Club and has been on honor roll all four years. She wants to study business and culinary arts in college, aspiring to one day open her own bakery.
