The Palo Alto Creamery Fountain & Grill reminds me of an old-fashioned diner with classic American foods. The restaurant is at 566 Emerson St., right in the middle of Downtown Palo Alto.
The menu offers NY Steak and Eggs to Spaghetti and Meatballs. The menu is split up into three sections: “Breakfust,” Lunch, and Dinner.
First, I ordered the Chocolate Soda with Chocolate Ice Cream. The chocolate ice cream made the chocolate soda even more chocolaty and thickened the soda. The carbonation with the chocolate flavor worked together perfectly and gave my mouth a snap of chocolate.
Though it was dinner, I ordered the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs with toast. The corned beef and eggs were great together and they were even better because I was having “breakfust” during dinner.
Another good dish, the Spaghetti and Meatballs with garlic bread, had a simple, but great tasting marinara sauce that featured tomatoes and basil. The subtle sweetness of the tomatoes mixed well with the bitterness of the basil . The meatballs were cooked until they were tender and the garlic bread was toasted to perfection.
The NY Steak and Eggs with toast is definitely a favorite at the restaurant. The steak was cooked until the middle was a bit red and the steak was still juicy.
The ambiance was casual and relaxing. The decor was exactly what an old diner should be like. They had the booths on the side and the counter in the center.
The service was great. They were nice and welcoming and made sure I enjoyed my meal.
The bottom line: This restaurant is a great pick if you’re going out with family, because it’s a bit longer of a drive and it’s a bit pricey for a student, however the food is worth it. I suggest planning ahead and arriving early because there’s always a line to get in.
