Uggs have exactly what many students are looking for in a shoe, warmth, comfort, and a cute alternative to other shoes.
The popular Australian sheepskin boot brand is already popular at Carlmont for its short chestnut boots and now for its “Dakota” slippers are making an appearance.
The Ugg “Dakota” slippers, commonly referred to as moccasins, usually cost around $100. The moccasins come in a variety of colors including pink, purple, brown, chestnut, and grey.
Uggs can be an expensive investment however some students think the price is justified.
Sophomore Johanna Hendriksen said, “I love my Ugg moccasins, they are so warm and comfortable.”
Students also love the ease of just slipping their foot into the shoe.
Sophomore Emma Lin said, “They are comfy and soft and wonderful and rainbows. Plus they keep your toesies warm and they are easy to put on and take off.”
Although many students love the warmth and comfort of the Uggs the comfy shoes do have their downsides.
Hendriksen stated, “The only thing I do not like about my moccasins is that when you walk around in them, the toe gets really scuffed up and if it is wet then it gets all gross on the toe.”
Uggs may be comfortable to wear but that comfort comes at a high price. If a pricey pair of Uggs is out of the budget, students can still buy a similar style shoe for around $40 from places like Urban Outfitters or brands like Minnetonka.
Carlmont students have fallen for the moccasins, and the Ugg craze continues with the newest moccasin craze.
