2K Sports has recently released the newest edition of the famous basketball video game franchise NBA 2K14 with LeBron James as the cover athlete.
This year the creators of this game have especially focused on LeBron James who recently won a National Basketball Association (NBA) Championship with the Miami Heat and won his fourth Most Valued Player (MVP) award. They have done so by adding features that focus on LeBron and have worked with LeBron himself on the game.
Carlmont students are exited for the new game but have different opinions on the choice 2K Sports made on focusing on LeBron James.
“I think its good they focused on LeBron because they have not done that in the past, but I think that they overrated him too much,” said senior Michael Costello.
While senior Chris Gonzales said, “I do not think they made the right choice, I think they should have chosen Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers.”
This year 2K Sports improved their right stick which allows the player to do more moves such as crossovers or jukes and give a more fluid shooting option other than a button.
The new game has two new features that focus specifically on LeBron James. One feature is called “Heat Dynasty” where LeBron stays in Miami with the “Big Three” and continue their quest for more championships.
The other feature is called “Fantastic Journey” where LeBron plays one year in Miami and then goes to free agency and tries his luck in a new team.
In addition to that 2K Sports allowed LeBron to choose the music in the game which includes artists like Phil Collins, Drake, Daft Punk, Coldplay and many more.
‘I am exited for the Fantastic Journey feature,” said senior Robert Zuniga when asked which feature he is most exited for. “I would probably move him to Phoenix because ever since Steve Nash left they have not have a star player and LeBron would fill that role,” Robert said when asked where would he move LeBron.
While Costello said, “I am exited for the new right stick because it will let players get a more realistic feel for the game.”
For the first time since 2009 2K Sports will have a competitor since EA relaunched their NBA Live Franchise focusing on the future of the NBA with young point guard Kyrie Irving from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
NBA 2K14 is available for $59.99 for the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360, while the version for the new Playsation 4 and Xbox One are set to release on Nov. 15 and Nov. 29 respectively
