Salt Box is a local all organic sit down restaurant located at the end of Laurel Street.
All of the ingredients of the food served at Salt Box are either bought from local organic farmers or grown in its own garden located on the roof. Therefore, the food offered at Salt Box is seasonal and always changing.
Salt Box is open for brunch, lunch, and dinner with a menu for each meal that consists of around eight dishes. Though the menu changes about every two weeks, the dinner menu always has some variation of salad, burger, and pasta.
Recently I went to the Salt Box for breakfast. I ordered maple glazed and mixed berry scones. The scones were homemade and tasted delicious. The scones were nicely warmed and came on a dish with butter and apricot marmalade. My favorite of the two was the maple glazed scones. Despite having a nice glaze, the scone itself had a rich maple taste.
The mixed berry scones were also great. The scones contained strawberries, cranberries, and raspberries; they tasted the best with the apricot marmalade.
In addition to ordering scones, I ordered the bacon hash for my actual meal. I have never had anything like it before, but it was incredible. The meal came with two poached eggs, potatoes, bacon, caramelized onions, roasted asparagus, spinach, and hollandaise sauce. The meal portion was fairly large. Though I was skeptical about having the meal with asparagus, they tasted great with the hollandaise sauce.
In total, the meal was fantastic and I would most definitely order it again.
Despite having great food, Salt Box has a modern ambiance. It is very enjoyable to eat in the restaurant as well as outside.
Salt Box is my favorite restaurant and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious meal.
