As the school year comes to an end, ASB’s newly elected Executive Board finishes planning one of their final events, the ASB spring field trip.
This Friday, ASB held their field trip where they sent off their seniors and welcomed the incoming members during an after-school stay in Carlmont’s ASB room.
ASB Service Council Vice President Kenna Kwok said, “The new Executive Board begins planning the field trip months in advanced by booking the areas, organizing senior speeches, planning games, planning dinner, decorations, in addition to creating a welcoming environment for the incoming members.”
The ASB spring field trip is an annual tradition for the program at Carlmont that obtains the goal of passing on valuable information from one ASB generation to the next.
The members all gather in the ASB room for a night of games, food, entertainment, bonding, and memories before the school year comes to a close.
ASB President Joe Sison said, “[The] Executive Board — composed of myself, Kenna Kwok, Nate Rutter, Zahra Haider, and Greta Foehr — have been planning this field trip for about two months now. We have spent long nights and many hours working out the schedule and figuring out logistics of inventory of supplies to the food we must order. It is a long process, but the impact of the final field trip is always worth it.”
ASB’s field trips play an important role in their program as they help bond the members and celebrates all of the events and activities ASB has accomplished throughout the school year.
ASB Service Council Vice President Greta Foehr said, “Without our field trips, the ASB members would most likely not be as bonded and close as we all are now as the memories we create are irreplaceable. If everyone gets along well then our activities will run more smoothly and we will all work more effectively together. These field trips are also a good way for incoming ASB members to get a taste of what ASB is really like and to be inspired by the legacy that the seniors are leaving behind.”
The ASB community continues to grow and change each year, but the field trips remain constant for the members.
“My favorite part about the field trips, especially our spring one, is that all of our members leave feeling closer to one another. From start to finish, next year’s ASB goes from a group of talented and hardworking individuals to a cohesive and united team. It’s magical and quite frankly, impossible to put into words,” Sison said. “I was honored to have the wonderful opportunity to plan the spring field trip and I know that the Executive Board’s passion for ASB and its members has shone through.”
