The testing will be held from 8:30-1:15 on Jan. 19 at Carlmont. Through the practice test, students have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with official test and assess their performance through a detailed report of their scores. Students can review their personalized score reports during a presentation by the test sponsor, Revolution Prep on Jan. 30 at 7 pm in the Student Union.
The practice test is good for students to know what areas to improve on and feel more confident going into the real test.
Sophomore Chris Moon said about the practice tests, “I think they’re good to help you get prepared for the real SAT so you know what to study.”
The testing is often a source of stress for juniors during this time of the year especially since most of them will be taking the SAT or ACT for the first time. Preparation is key before the exam; some students take practice courses for the SAT and ACT while others study on their own. There is a lot of pressure to excel on the tests since many colleges look at students’ test scores as an important factor in college applications.
Alexis Wilson, a junior at Carlmont, stated, “There is so much to study in advance. We all try to get the highest score possible, so it does put a lot of stress on us to do well.”
The tests this weekend will be filled with many Carlmont students working to get their target scores.
