Laurel Street, located in downtown San Carlos a few miles from Carlmont High School, attracts available students with its stores, shops and food options after school and on weekends.
Many students live around that area as well in the apartment complexes located on the northern end of Laurel Street, past all the commercial shops.
Gary Martinez, who lives near Laurel Street, said, “I don’t go down Laurel Street often, but when I do, I just like to hang out with friends and go to some stores… it’s nice there”
Students often like to walk around Laurel Street in San Carlos to spend time with friends or shop.
“I like going downtown with friends,” said Cathy Lau. “I like Mexican food stores, Diddam’s, Cowabunga, Speederia, basically all the food stores.”
Student can often be spotted around lunch time in restaurants like Ozuma, Town and Speederia.
Laurel Street also hosts several frozen yogurt and ice cream shops, like Cowabunga, Tutti Frutti and Harmony.
Both Lau and Martinez mentioned that they like going to Speederia, a pizza restaurant located across the street from one of the Starbucks that resides on Laurel Street.
Also mentioned was Diddam’s, a party store that hosts a mass of party supplies and favors for nearly every birthday and holiday possible.
A new addition to Laurel Street include Nothing Bundt Cakes, a store that sells cakes and other pastries.
