Artist and picture book illustrator Zuzu Gong demonstrates how to write the character "fú", which means blessing, good fortune, and happiness. She completed the character in one continuous, fluid stroke. The paper was later turned upside down, which symbolized that good fortune had "arrived."
The Foster City Library hosted a Lunar New Year calligraphy workshop on Feb. 28, where local artist Zuzu Gong taught families how to write Chinese characters on couplets. Participants of all ages practiced calligraphy and learned about the meaning of the characters. Families also worked together, explored different characters, and enjoyed a hands-on creative experience.
