Miley Cyrus kicked off her highly anticipated Bangerz world tour in Vancouver on Valentine’s Day, the first of 60 stops. The singer started off her tour with an aim to wow the crowd with her controversial costumes, stage sets, and performances.
Junior Andrew Wach said, “I’m beyond excited for her concert here. I think Miley is amazing and I’ve always wanted to go to one of her concerts. Her concert is going to be so much fun.”
Cyrus has been performing her hit songs “We Can’t Stop,” “Wrecking Ball,” “Can’t Be Tamed,” and “Party in the U.S.A.” The singer also performed covers of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” and OutKast’s “Hey Ya.”
The tour is also featuring Icona Pop and Sky Ferreira as opening acts. These two acts were chosen to pump up the crowd with energy before Cyrus makes her appearance.
“I think people can always depend on Miley to surprise them and that explains the excitement for her concerts. People can’t wait to see what she’ll do next,” said senior Iman Fawahl.
Cyrus has been has been making quite an entrance at her concerts in the Bangerz tour by sliding down an inflatable tongue that appears to be coming out of a screen which projects her face.
The performances included some furry animals, twerking, and a giant hot dog that Cyrus was straddling. The pop singer also danced with a giant foam finger, similar to the one in her famous and controversial performance with singer Robin Thicke at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Cyrus showed off her love for gold by what was being sold as merchandise. Besides the usual t-shirts and tour books, available for sale at the merch table for $40, were 24 carat gold sheets of rolling paper.
Besides performances and merchandise, the costumes Cyrus was changing into seem to have gained a lot of attention.
The costumes ranged from being designed by Marc Jacobs to Jeremy Scott. The singer wore fitted and revealing one pieces, cowboy boots, bodysuits, fake fur, rhinestones, and more.
The pop singer has claimed that every show will be different from one another, so fans will just have to wait with anticipation for the concerts coming to Oakland and San Jose.
