Everyone is entitled to their own musical opinion, but in the case of American Idol Season 10, Carlmont students should not be allowed. It sounds harsh, but we’re picking ONE person as the idol for our nation.
Should it have been the gospel singer, Jacob Lusk? No. Absolutely not. The high pitched guy who wants to live in a bad 80s music video, James Durbin? NO. Luckily, those two went home. Unluckily, the top three that remain are SO hard to pick between.
There are two of America’s favorite country singers Scotty McCreery, a charming southern High School Senior, and Lauren Alaina, a High School Sophomore with a Kelly Clarkson vibe.
If we were a stereotypical nation one of them would win, but there is a third and in my opinion BEST contestant ever, Haley Reinhart. She has talent seeping through every inch of her perfect complexion.
At the beginning of Idol she was not a favorite of mine, but as she improved drastically and somehow gained a ridiculous amount of confidence she became an Idol of mine.
Haley Reinhart has a unique look to match her unique voice. Attitude is probably her middle name, considering she isn’t afraid to go the distance or back sass the judges, Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, and Randy Jackson.
Her soothing and exotic vibe would represent America’s diversity and aim for change. Picking a country singer(which has already been done) would represent one group in America, but picking a well rounded girl would show how much our country is improving.
American Idol’s weird. Vote for Haley Reinhart at Americanidol.com next Thursday after the show on Fox.
