Lady Scots faced the Hillsdale Knights once again in a match-up where this time Carlmont got their redemption.
Amina Hasely, Head Coach of the tennis team said, “We made some changes is the singles this time around, if we win, we win and if we lose then we will shake it off tomorrow and come back next time stronger. If Carlmont wins it will tie us in first for PALS.”
Junior Pareesa Darafshi said, “If we win the rest of the matches and they win we are co-champions, but if they lose and we win we are champions.”
The defeat against Carlmont by Hillsdale did not phase the Scots in their second round of facing them. With the victory they are now tied for first in The Pacific Athletic League (PAL).
The doubles all resulted victorious against their opponents while the singles played by Cassidy Sobey, Veronika Dvorakova, and Mar Burgueno all resulted in a loss. Sobey said, “My score was 4-6 and 3-6 and my match did not contribute to the importance of todays match since I lost, but it will add up in the end and count towards the overall score.”
The game winning match played by singles player, Cori Sidell, was the most exciting to the team. Darafshi said, “Cori’s match is the most important because she would be the game winning match and it will determine if we are in first for PALS.”
After winning, Sidell explained the importance of her match and said, “I didn’t play all weekend, but earlier today I got some time in and I know every time I’m going into a match I can pull through and keep going.” Sidell has faced her opponent many times before and said, “I either lose to her in a close match or we end up tying, It felt great to win this one.”
