Sony’s highly awaited PlayStation 4 is set to release this Friday and officially start the new wave of gaming devices for the holiday season.
The PlayStation 4 is the successor of the PlayStation 3 of Sony’s PlayStation franchise that has entertained children and teenagers since 1994. The new console is a slanted box shape that is all black. Currently the PlayStation 4 will not come in any special bundles like the PlayStation 3 did when it came out.
“I think this is bad because Sony starts with a new console and then stops making games for the PlayStation 3 and makes me buy up to the new console,” said senior Scott Harris.
The PlayStation 4 contains an internal hard drive of 500GB which gives a gamer enough memory to play.
One of the biggest features that the PlayStation 4 has is in its controller. The new controller or its formal name “DualShock 4” has more refined triggers, which enhances game play. In addition to a better game play experience, the DualShock 4 has a touch pad right in the controller which eases the navigation in the internet services. Finally the DualShock 4 has a microphone installed into it which makes it an easier way to chat and voice control.
“The thing that I am most exited for is the new controller because it is really innovative, and no other controller has been able to do all what the PlayStation 4 controller can,” said senior Brandon Aflak.
“I do not think I am getting this console because I do not see any thing that wows me and I still think the PlayStation 3 is a great gaming system,” said senior Jay Aurora.
One thing that has many Sony fans down is that now the PlayStation 4 will now require a paid subscription, called PlayStation Plus, to play online like its counter part Microsoft with the Xbox Live membership. But one thing that will not change is the price for video games, which will still stay at the price of $59.99.
The PlayStation 4 is not the only console set to release this month, with the Xbox One, which is considered the PlayStation 4’s main competition, to be released in the United States on Nov. 22.
The PlayStation 4 is set to release this Nov. 15 for $399.99 at any electronics store.
