Leher Kawadia is a sophomore at Carlmont High School and is a first-year media arts student. She enjoys swimming, drawing, and baking. She is looking forward to creating cartoons this year and hopes to learn how to effectively cover and market interesting events!

Community is the most powerful motivator in sports because people are designed to work together. Motivation can be unrelated to the sport at all, but athletes are still putting in the effort to try. “Athletes don't remember their wins. They might have a general idea of their wins. What they remember fondly are the people and the spirit. I'll call them the spirit moment, the cheers, the in-between races, talking to the people and laughing, and that's what they remember. I don't want to diminish the importance of performing, but in a way community is what gets remembered most,” Jim Kelly said.

The Kicking Horse Cafe, based in Canada has been calling its americanos by the name canadiano as an inside host. In protest of the re-election of Donald Trump and his policies regarding Canada, several other shops have picked up on the trend. This has essentially created a rebrand for the Americano, which was based on a diluted Italian espresso given to US soldiers stationed in Italy. Just as the Americano became popular worldwide, subtle protests, such as its semi-rebrand, will be vital to pushing a movement.

Thousands of park rangers employed at natural parks across the USA have been laid off as part of the effort to reduce federal jobs led by President Trump and Elon Musk. This can create great struggles for the rangers because they have the difficult jobs of managing vast expanses of land, animals, and tourists. Cutting down the number of park rangers makes it incredibly harder for them to do their jobs and sustain natural parks. Online, many are worried for the future of national parks while some rangers have taken to social media to garner external support for them. While some government funded jobs are unnecessary, park rangers should not be included in federal layoffs.

Travel and going on vacations are romanticized in our culture as something to work towards and look forward to. Although the reason isn’t that people actually crave new experiences; they just want to escape the cycle of life that they exist in. Furthermore, this is another form of consumerism, rather than the well-known product overconsumption; this is “cultural consumerism.” Travel should not be as glorified as it is because a short-term visit may not improve the tourist’s life views or the preexisting ecosystem of the vacation spot.

Personal style and individual expression through clothing have decreased due to obsession with celebrities and social media microtrend hopping. Several different "aesthetics" and categories stemming from social media trends, such as "clean girl" and coquette," constantly categorize fashion subcultures and discourage exploration. Additionally, fast fashion companies mass-produce low-quality products to fit trends that change every week. These trends make it difficult for people to develop their own tastes and generally make individual expression uncommon, harming the natural growth of trends.
