Senior year, which is regarded by some students as the year to remember, is a time many look forward to throughout their high school experience.
With the privilege of being a senior, seniors have the option to buy a sweatshirt that is specifically designed for their graduating class.
The theme of last year’s sweatshirt was modeled after the iconic Santa Cruz logo, which is a widely known and popular symbol that represents the city of Santa Cruz.
This year’s theme is based on the Patagonia brand. The sweatshirts will be a heather gray color and will feature the logo on the front of the shirt.
Josh Camerino, a senior class vice president, believes that this sweatshirt design is one that was crafted with the senior class in mind, and is excited to see what all the seniors will say about the design.
“There will be people who won’t like the designs and people who do. In the end, we tried to give the students what they wanted to see on the sweatshirt to make everyone happy,” said Camerino.
These sweatshirts are important to seniors because they are a representation of their last year in high school, and many students look forward to seeing the design for their class as they get closer to senior year.
“I can’t wait to see the design for my class’ year because it’s a sweatshirt that will symbolize my last year of high school as something great and something that I will remember for a very long time,” said Rebecca Jiang, a junior.
However, when the design for the sweatshirts of the 2018 class was released, some seniors were not satisfied.
“I wish the design was something more original. It would be one thing if they were Patagonia brand sweatshirts matched with a Patagonia logo. For this year, it’s only a logo on a simple sweatshirt. I want to be able to remember our class as not just a rebuffed design,” said Alyssa Fong, a senior.
Although not every senior will buy a sweatshirt, many seniors have lined up in the quad to pre-order them. Senior sweatshirt and t-shirt sales will be held every day outside the ASB room at lunch until Sept. 14.
