Welcome back to All Things Animals!
Today we have a super special guest. She is a Carlmont Alum and former member of the Tremors synchronized skating team where she helped us place top ten in the nation in 2023. Right now, she’s a sophomore at the University of Vermont, studying animal science, so she’s going to be giving us the inside scoop on what it’s like to be an animal science major in college. Welcome Sam Shetty!
An animal science major entails the science behind caring for animals and is a common area of study for those planning to pursue veterinary medicine in the future. According to Tufts Pre-Veterinary Society, there are 49 veterinary colleges that are accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). According to AVMA, 15,157 people applied for vet school last year.
Shetty will be one of many applying for a spot in this competitive field in two years. Tune in as she talks about her college experience from anatomy classes to the class selection process.
