A sunny day at Aragon High School on Sept. 10, 2012 proved to be successful for the Carlmont varsity tennis team when they won 5-2 in total matches.
When sophomore player Veronika Dvorakova was asked what the teams goals for the year were, she replied, “To make it to CCS like we did last year.” CCS is the High school Equivalent to the playoffs.
Aragon’s team is trying to get used to a new coach but the Carlmont team saw that as no reason to let them win. Varsity made them work hard for every point and convincing won in the final match total.
“I plan on continue winning like I have been, as well as helping to other girls out at practice,” said Dvorakova.
The Carlmont team plays a total of three times this week. Sept. 12 is a home game against Sequoia. The team finishes out the week with a match at Hillsdale High School. The team plans on finishing the week out strong and using the momentum for the rest of the season.
The goal for getting to CCS seems feasible if the team continues to play at a high level through the season.
