For years, local Cheesecake Factory fans would have to travel miles just to get their hands on some of their famous desserts.

The 36-year-old chain restaurant was created by Evelyn and Oscar Overton, who created the restaurant from their passion for baking.

Recently, the Cheesecake Factory has officially opened its first location in San Mateo’s Hillsdale Mall. With the addition of the San Mateo location, there are 151 restaurants open with the same delectable treats.

The waiting list for the new location can take up to three hours. “It has really good Italian food, but the wait is too long sometimes. The service is not always good either,” stated Drake Lem.

Reviewers on Yelp gave the San Mateo location three stars because the service is less than satisfactory.

Melissa Wood commented, “Even though I haven’t been to the Cheesecake Factory in San Mateo, I like the it because there is really good food and amazing cheesecake!”
