Newly renovated Chinese restaurant Crouching Tiger delivers great tasting food with an average experience.
Once, the Downtown Redwood City restaurant could be considered small as during busy weekends, there was barely enough elbow room and the noise from all the other eaters was deafening.
But now, after basically doubling the size, it almost feels too big as there isn’t enough staff to handle all the people and sometimes food items can go out of stock by the end of a long night.
Apart from the size of the place, the food selection and quality is outstanding for everyone whether you’re a vegan or a carnivore.
The vegetarian food choice is vast, with meals like vegetable chow mein and sauteed string beans, but they also carry one food item most restaurants do not; imitation meat.
Many people might be turned off by the idea of eating fake meat, but the “meat” here is outstanding, the texture is chewy but not too chewy and it is drizzled in sauce that comes in many classic flavors from orange chicken to sweet and sour pork.
Even on crowded nights with stressed staff running around to every table, the food comes pretty quick and quality never deteriorates. Authentic looking and tasting food is always delivered and even the same dish every time never gets old.
Another part of Crouching Tiger that makes it a good place to go out for a family meal is it’s location, it’s right next to the intersection of Broadway and El Camino next to Sequoia High School so after the meal, a walk through Downtown or a shopping spree or even a movie will be convenient and close-by.
For dinner on a weekend, it is recommended that reservations are made as the place fills up quickly with large groups so to be safe, just call them and make reservations to guarantee a table large enough for a group of any size.
Price wise, Crouching Tiger is a good deal, it is not very expensive and just about any dish is most certainly worth the money and keeps people coming back.
