[media-credit id=10 align=”alignnone” width=”300″][/media-credit]Carlmont’s annual Homecoming assembly took place on Oct. 27 in the main gym.
The purpose of the assembly is to welcome all of the students back, as well as to raise the spirits for the Homecoming football game and dance. With the large number of students that Carlmont has, the assembly was split into two parts, with half of the student body attending the first assembly, and the other half attending the second assembly.
The assembly started off with a competition between all four classes and then transitioned to the introduction of the varsity football players.
Then came the championship round of the Carlmont Cup, with the final round including various teachers facing off against the students. However, not all attendees found the final games to be amusing. “It wasn’t fun to watch because everyone was really loud and I couldn’t hear,” commented junior Yash Malik.
Performances by the Carlmont choirs, advanced dance, and the cheerleaders attempted to raise the Scots’ school spirit. The assembly concluded with a show from the Carlmont drum-line, as well as members from Carlmont’s jazz band and choir.
“I liked the drum-line performance, but the Carlmont Cup activities were pretty boring,” added Melissa McCormick.
Carlmont’s varsity football team will play against Cappuccino High School at 3 pm for the Homecoming football game. The Homecoming dance will follow at 8 pm in the main gym.”I’m excited for the dance because it is my first time going,” stated an anonymous student.
