Welcome to People, Politics, and Perspective, a podcast dedicated to exploring controversial social, political, and cultural issues, and their deeper impact on society. In this first episode, host Elaine Jiang is joined by Dr. E. Michele Ramsay, an associate professor of Communication Arts and Sciences and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Pennsylvania State University, Berks College. 

Ramsey founded the Communication Arts and Sciences minor and major at her college, as well as co-founded a minor in Women’s Studies, a certificate in social justice, and the Keystone Certificate for Integrative Humanities. Her research focuses include political communication, social movements, women’s public address, and advocating for the humanities.

Listen as Ramsey discusses how the Barbie movie has encouraged conversations about patriarchy and the importance of representation in film, both on-screen and behind the camera.
