Sun’s Chinese Cuisine, located at 251 South B Street in downtown San Mateo, is a direct example of bad hospitality. With its rude waiters and slow pay service, we left with full bellies but an unsatisfying experience.
We ordered chicken chow mein, sweet and sour pork, and potstickers. The food came fairly quickly, and it was hot and fresh. Everything was bursting with flavor and it was delicious. The pork had just the right amount of vegetables and the chow mein was tender and savory. All of the food was very well made.
The food may have been awesome, but the service will prompt me to never return. As we entered, the host pointed us towards a table and threw down the utensils in front of us as he walked away. They silently took our orders and when the food came, they carelessly plopped down the dishes and left.
After all of this, they took 15 minutes to bring back the credit cards, (there was nobody else in the restaurant), and when we kindly asked for them back, he shouted, “Hold on I’m coming!” in a rude voice followed by a scoff.
As soon as the bill came, we clearly crossed off the tip space and walked out.
The chinese delicacies were delicious, but the service left us in disgust. If Sun’s Chinese Cuisine wants its customers to return, they should fix their attitudes to match the quality of their food.
