[media-credit id=48 align=”aligncenter” width=”300″][/media-credit]Chipotle Mexican Grill, a chain style Mexican restaurant, has many locations around the peninsula including San Mateo, San Carlos, and Redwood City. The bar style service and seat availability makes Chipotle the perfect take-out or sit-down meal.
At Chipotle, the customer has two main options, a bulky burrito or a “burrito bowl” (all the ingredients in a container instead of a tortilla). If neither of these are of any interest, the option of a quesadilla or mini tacos are available as well.
As proudly advertised, Chipotle solely serves organic and healthy ingredients. The bar starts with white or brown rice, followed by black or pinto beans, grilled onions, and bell peppers. The meat choices include diced chicken, shredded pork, diced steak, or sliced beef in sauce (barbacoa). Next come three salsas, corn sour cream, lettuce, guacamole (cost extra), and cheese.
They do not have a full bar, but have a selection of a few beers, some sodas, and some children’s drinks. Chips are not complimentary, but are available for purchase.
Due to the high popularity, lines around peak hours can get long, but for the most part, service is very quick as the bar-style service permits.
Although the burritos are a suitable meal for even the biggest appetites, Chipotle has a good array of child-sized meals with the mini-tacos and limited kids menu.
The few negative aspects of the restaurant are the long lines during high times, the ridiculous extra charge for guacamole and the inconsistency of proportions/service as many different employees work at the same restaurant.
