Every year, several Carlmont seniors are not able to afford the several hundred dollar cost for their senior portraits.
The average cost of senior portraits along with the prints can easily cost hundreds of dollars. The sitting fee alone costs $50, and it can effortlessly cost several hundred dollars for several poses.
Eight years ago, Mr. Jarrod Harrison, the Carlmont AP US History and yearbook teacher, came up with a solution to help the less fortunate seniors in need of financial help for one of these many senior memories.
With so many students having trouble affording such high prices, Harrison decided to find a way to help them. “I didn’t want any senior to have to miss out on such a big part of senior year,” said Harrison. “I talked to the photo company, and they agreed to take the portraits for the seniors who couldn’t afford to get their portraits taken and write off the fees. They even include some prints for each student.”
From February 28 to March 3, Harrison spent several class periods setting up small portrait studios in various classrooms so the seniors could have their portraits taken. “I really appreciate all the teachers who supported the seniors and let them leave class to get their portraits done,” commented Harrison.
