Carlmont’s girls tennis team has been competing in the PAL playoffs against the best teams in the Bay Area.
In Round One of the PAL team playoffs, Carlmont was in second place (third overall) and beat Menlo Atherton for the third time this season. Coach Amina Doar Halsey said, “This is the first time in many years that Carlmont has beaten M-A twice in one year, so a third win was just icing on the cake.”
In Round Two, the Lady Scots lost to Aragon in a very, very close 4-3 match. As a result, Aragon won the playoffs, with Carlmont taking second place, and M-A taking third.
Rounds One and Two of the PAL Individual Tournament were Nov. 1. Lisa Chin played in the first round and lost a close three-set match to the number two singles player from Woodside. Senior Paulette Varelas and junior Tarilyn Wong also came up short against the number one doubles team from Aragon.
Veronika Dvorak and the doubles team of Cori Sidell and Christine Tataru both had byes in the first round but won their matches easily. Dvorak beat a singles player from El Camino High School and Sidell & Tataru defeated a doubles team from Mills. They, later, came back to play against Burlingame.
