Carlmont’s varsity volleyball team dominated over Belmont rivals, Notre Dame.
This year, Carlmont has a promising new volleyball team that works well together and comes out victorious.
At the event on Wednesday, all the girls did a wonderful job at serving; with number 9, Ashley Duba, launching ball after ball into the opponent’s court.
Number 4, Torika Ramulo, and number 10, Shelby Vance, excelled at blocking Notre Dame’s attempts of spiking the ball over the net.
A new member of the Carlmont and of the varsity team was number 8, Kallan Bedard. Bedard meshed well with the team and helped to lead the Scots to victory with her quick reflexes during the rallies.
Carlmont was charged and ready to win it all, but Notre Dame tried to hold on and the third set was intense.
Although Carlmont usually has a strong volleyball team, this year’s varsity team looks to be better than ever. The girls help each other out as their teamwork is quick and organized, allowing them to set up into vital positions for attack.
Everyone was supportive; giving each other encouraging words for a job-well-done, pats on the back and high-fives, and of course the extra teammates on the bench were as enthusiastic as can be.
The only support lacking was of that in the stands. There was a sad number of Scots present to cheer on the volleyball team as the crowd consisted of mostly Notre Dame supporters. Even with the chanting of “Notre Dame, Notre Dame” echoing throughout the gym, the occasional “Scoreboard!” gave enough encouragement to keep the Lady Scots in the lead.
The varsity volleyball team defeated their rivals in a 3/5 shut down; starting off the season with a bang.
