The Mexican holiday of Cinco de Mayo celebrates the 1862 victory of Mexican troops over the French at the Battle of Puebla, which enabled them to eventually win their independence. This year, Cinco de Mayo remained a celebration of culture and heritage across the country, with parades, block parties, and folkloric ballet. (Shiyo Ohashi)

Historically the World Cup pay gap has been extremely unfair, with women receiving less than a third of the men. Last May, the US Soccer Federation announced that they would pool the money from world cup winnings between the men and womens teams and split them evenly. With the Womens World Cup coming up in the summer, the equal pay for the US teams is a big step for gender equality in sports.

Ozempic has become the newest celebrity weight loss trend. Though commonly used by diabetics, the weekly injectable drug results in a rapid loss of fat when used recreationally. It is only a matter of time till Ozempics hype spreads to the mainstream, proving how little the body positivity movement has achieved. The ongoing narrative continues to prioritize thinness over health, but our bodies need nutrients, and we are depriving them of such. When the definition of desired beauty is constantly shifting, its not worth chasing the body shape celebrities are drugging themselves to achieve. (Urvi Kulkarni).
